Thinking of applying

Thinking of applying or learning more about the Copperstate 1000? Great!

Dates

The dates for 31st annual running of the Bell Lexus North Scottsdale Copperstate 1000 are Saturday, April 10 to Wednesday, April 14, 2021.

Eligibility

In keeping with the spirit of a vintage car rally, model year 1973 and older sports, racing, and grand touring cars are eligible. Cars newer than 1973 cannot be substituted for any reason, even after the rally begins.

Consideration will be given on a case-by-case basis for certain post-1973 vehicles that exhibit design continuity with earlier models (i.e. no significant changes discernible from 1973 production year.)

Clones, reproductions, tributes, continuation-series cars (except as noted above), and recreations are not eligible for participation on the Copperstate 1000.  All cars are subject to the same standards for admission and acceptance.

The entry fee for the 2021 Bell Lexus North Scottsdale Copperstate 1000 is $8,000 and includes all meals and double occupancy lodging for the driver and co-driver starting from Saturday evening through Wednesday evening.

FAQs

How many cars do you accept?
Normally, we would take approximately 85 cars on the rally. Due to COVID and the uncertainty of what 2021 holds, we will be limiting the number of cars on the 2021 rally to just 50. We receive many more applications each year than available spots. Please do not be discouraged if you are placed on the waitlist, especially this year.

What happens if I need mechanical assistance on the road?
The Bell Lexus North Scottsdale Copperstate 1000 is blessed to have the involvement of many dedicated people and organizations, and in no area is that dedication more apparent then when mechanical assistance is needed.  We travel with 3 professional mechanics (Cody Coop and Mike Ploof from AZ Collector Cars and Robert Webster from RW Fabrications/WebsterWerkstatt) and 3 students from the McPherson College of Automotive Restoration that specialize in vintage automobiles as well as  volunteers whose job it is to schedule any needed repairs. Our title sponsor, Bell Lexus North Scottsdale, generously donates new Lexus’ for use when your car just will not be able to finish the rally and professional tow drivers with flatbed carriers are on-hand to assist with the transportation of not-so-willing cars.

Although we provide mechanical assistance on the road, a properly prepared vehicle is the responsibility of the driver. All accepted cars will be required to undergo a vehicle safety inspection prior to arrival. A certified mechanic is required to inspect your vehicle and sign-off that it is in rally ready condition.

What about luggage?
No need to pack lightly. We travel with a UHaul Luggage Truck (generously donated!) so all your luggage needs will be handled. Drop your bags off in the morning and they will be waiting for you when you arrive.
