Who Are the Cowboy Artists of America?
The Cowboy Artists of America (CAA) have been the tour de force in Western American art since the four founding artists met in Sedona, Arizona, on June 23, 1965. Joe Beeler, Charlie Dye, John Hampton and George Phippen assembled to discuss the future of Western art in changing times. They envisioned an artists’ association that first would preserve the stature of Western art in the fine art world. Second, it would set high standards for its members, "to insure authentic representation of the life of the West, as it was and is."
Today there are 23 active members, known as CAs, as well as eight emeritus members in this most tenured Western art organization. |
